15 Free Claude Skills That Fix Generic AI Output

Design, writing, thinking, and presentation Skills from Skills.sh, with starter stacks and install discipline.

Claude is powerful. Default Claude still produces a lot of same-looking UI, filler writing, and vague answers. Skills change that. A Skill is a packaged instruction set Claude can load so it stops guessing and starts following a proven pattern.

This page is the permanent home for the 15 free Skills.sh skills I recommend most often, grouped by job: design, writing, thinking, and presentations. Install the ones that match your workflow. Don't install everything at once.

The best part: they're free. Instead of asking Claude to "make it better," give it a Skill that teaches it how to make it better.

How Claude Skills work (quick primer)

  1. A Skill is a folder Claude Code (or compatible clients) can load with domain rules, examples, and constraints.
  2. You install from skills.sh or a GitHub repo.
  3. When relevant, Claude applies the Skill instead of inventing process from scratch.
  4. Good Skills raise floor quality. Bad Skills add context bloat, so only keep what you use weekly.

Pair this list with Claude Token Optimization so Skill overhead doesn't eat your context window.

Design skills (1-8)

Use these when Claude is building UI, layouts, diagrams, or product surfaces that look "AI default."

1. UI/UX Pro Max

Job: Better UI, layouts, typography, and interfaces.

Install / docs: skills.sh/nextlevelbuilder/ui-ux-pro-max-skill

Use when: You're shipping a landing page, dashboard, or app screen and Claude keeps producing generic card grids.

2. Awesome Design MD

Job: Better design decisions and UI structure.

Install / docs: skills.sh/VoltAgent/awesome-design-md

Use when: You want Claude to reason about hierarchy and structure before jumping to CSS.

3. Taste Skill

Job: Give Claude better visual taste.

Install / docs: skills.sh/Leonxlnx/taste-skill

Use when: Output looks technically correct but aesthetically flat.

4. Impeccable

Job: Polish and fix AI-generated interfaces.

Install / docs: skills.sh/pbakaus/impeccable

Use when: The first pass is 70% there and you need a polish pass, not a redesign.

5. Design.md

Job: Better frontend design guidance.

Install / docs: skills.sh/google-labs-code/design.md

Use when: You want a durable design brief Claude can follow across multiple files.

6. Hallmark

Job: Create more polished, thoughtful interfaces.

Install / docs: skills.sh/Nutlope/hallmark

Use when: Consumer-facing UI needs warmth and craft, not just components.

7. Diagram Design

Job: Build clearer diagrams, workflows, and systems.

Install / docs: skills.sh/cathrynlavery/diagram-design

Use when: Architecture or process diagrams come out as spaghetti boxes.

8. Archify

Job: Better architecture and technical design thinking.

Install / docs: skills.sh/tt-a1i/archify

Use when: You're designing systems, not just screens: services, data flow, boundaries.

Writing skills (9-12)

Use these when Claude sounds like every other AI draft: padded intros, buried answers, no voice.

9. Humanizer

Job: Make AI writing sound more natural.

Install / docs: skills.sh/blader/humanizer

Use when: LinkedIn posts, emails, and blog drafts read like corporate AI.

10. Voiceprint

Job: Make Claude write in your specific voice.

Install / docs: skills.sh/charlie947/voiceprint

Use when: You have a brand voice and Claude keeps defaulting to generic "helpful assistant" tone.

11. Answer First

Job: Get to the point instead of burying the answer.

Install / docs: skills.sh/charlie947/answer-first

Use when: You need decisions, not essays. Great for research, support, and technical Q&A.

12. Stop Slop

Job: Cut filler and generic AI language.

Install / docs: skills.sh/hardikpandya/stop-slop

Use when: Output is full of "delve," "landscape," "it's important to note," and empty transitions.

Thinking and productivity (13-14)

13. Understand Anything

Job: Break down complex research, documents, and concepts.

Install / docs: skills.sh/Egonex-AI/Understand-Anything

Use when: You're dumping PDFs, specs, or research dumps and need structured understanding.

14. I Have ADHD

Job: Structure information and tasks in a more digestible way.

Install / docs: skills.sh/ayghri/i-have-adhd

Use when: Long plans overwhelm you. You need chunked steps, clear next actions, and less cognitive load.

Presentations (15)

15. Frontend Slides

Job: Build interactive, visual presentations with code.

Install / docs: skills.sh/zarazhangrui/frontend-slides

Use when: You need decks that aren't PowerPoint clones: demos, teaching slides, product walkthroughs.

Many Skills are written for Claude Code-style skill folders. Check each Skills.sh page for client support.

Why host this on mrraoai.com?
